This is a preliminary version of a key to plants which - in Germany - grow on arable land (i.e. fields which are more or less regularly ploughed), excluding plants of meadows and pastures. The list, focusing on typical crops and frequently occurring wild plants, is largely based on the book by Hofmeister and Garve (2006) 'Lebensraum Acker' (see http://offene-naturfuehrer.de/wiki/Pflanzen_der_Äcker).
Several ruderal plants (those occurring in disturbed sites such as road or railway sides) may be occasionally found on arable land, and are not keyed out here. If the identification with this key remains unsatisfactory, a key including all species in Germany must be consulted.
